Pharmaceutical TabletsPharmaceutical Tablets are created either through compression or moulding. Among the excipients are diluents, binders or granulating agents, glidants (flow aids), and lubricants to ensure effective tableting; disintegrants to encourage tablet break-up in the digestive tract; sweeteners or flavours to improve taste; and pigments to make the tablets visually appealing or to help with visual identification of an unknown tablet. A polymer coating is frequently put to tablets to improve their smoothness and swallowability, manage the pace at which the active ingredient is released, increase their environmental resistance (thereby increasing their shelf life), and/or improve their visual appeal.
